About the role 

We have a full‑time 18 month secondment opportunity for a Local Community Growth Specialist (external title: Sales and Business Development Specialist) based in Far North QLD. This role includes regular travel across Townsville, Cairns and Mackay for partner visits and on‑site events. Occasional Saturday work may be required during busy periods. 

 

You’ll be part of a geographically based, cross‑functional community team focused on building stronger connections, deepening trust, and supporting members end‑to‑end. 

 

In this role, you will: 

  • Build strong relationships with local organisations, partners, and community groups. 
  • Grow Medibank’s presence through events, activations, and partner visits. 
  • Manage a pipeline of business development and self‑generated growth opportunities. 
  • Identify opportunities to acquire and retain members through tailored conversations. 
  • Share local insights to guide partnership opportunities and community health needs. 
  • Role‑model accountability, flexibility, and needs‑based customer conversations. 
  • Work across various environments — store, home, partner sites, and community locations.
