The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Squad Lead to take on a senior leadership role overseeing Conduct, Transaction Processing, and Fraud Risk across Medibank. Sitting within the Group Risk and Compliance function, this role partners closely with senior leaders to provide strong oversight, insight, and constructive challenge in areas critical to customer trust and business integrity.
You’ll play a key role in embedding Medibank’s risk and compliance frameworks, strengthening enterprise risk maturity, and supporting informed, risk‑based decision‑making. This opportunity is well suited to someone with deep technical expertise in operational risk, a strong solutions mindset, and the credibility to influence at senior levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide enterprise‑wide oversight, review, and challenge of Conduct, Transaction Processing, and Fraud risks and associated obligations
- Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of the Operational Risk Management Framework and Risk Management Strategy
- Act as a trusted subject matter expert and advisor to senior leaders, offering insight, guidance, and constructive challenge
- Lead risk assessments, workshops, and control reviews for business initiatives, products, and projects
- Monitor and maintain risk registers, key risk indicators, and assurance activities to ensure risks remain within appetite
- Provide oversight of incident management, including escalation, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
- Support obligation management activities through assessments, compliance monitoring, and advisory support
- Prepare and deliver high‑quality reporting to Executive, Board, and governance forums
- Foster strong stakeholder engagement and contribute to embedding a robust risk and compliance culture
- Lead and influence cross‑functional resources within an agile, sprint‑based delivery model
Must haves:
- Significant experience designing and implementing risk management systems, preferably within Financial Services or Private Health
- Proven experience managing or overseeing Conduct and/or Transaction Processing risk in complex environments
- Strong knowledge of operational risk, controls, and compliance obligation frameworks
- Ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced, initiative‑driven environments and deliver to agreed timelines
- Experience leading or working with agile, cross‑functional teams
- Strong influencing capability with the gravitas to provide effective challenge at senior levels
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex technical risk information clearly
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills across diverse audiences
- Demonstrated integrity, sound judgement, and commitment to strong risk and compliance practices
