Help build connected digital health experiences that support better health outcomes.
At Medibank, our purpose is Better Health for Better Lives. As a Senior Software Engineer within Amplar Health Platform Engineering, you’ll help design and deliver secure, reliable and scalable applications that connect experiences across virtual healthcare, telehealth, in-clinic and in-home services.
This is a senior, hands-on engineering role where you’ll take ownership of complex technical outcomes from discovery through to production. You’ll work closely with product, architecture, security, delivery and clinical stakeholders to balance customer, clinical, commercial and technology needs.
In this opportunity you will:

- Provide pragmatic technical leadership while remaining hands-on with development.
- Make and communicate design decisions across scalability, security, maintainability, performance and delivery speed.
- Shape engineering standards across testing, CI/CD, observability, resilience and secure development.
- Break complex initiatives into clear, testable deliverables and identify technical risks and dependencies.
- Mentor engineers through pairing, coaching, constructive code reviews and knowledge sharing.
- Work across engineering, product, architecture, cyber security, privacy, clinical and operational teams.
- Support production systems, lead root-cause analysis and turn incident learnings into lasting improvements.
What we'd like to see in you:
- Five or more years of professional software development experience.
- Advanced capability in at least one modern programming language. The current environment uses.NET/C#, while experience with Java, Python or JavaScript/TypeScript is also valuable.
- Experience building modern web applications, APIs and distributed services.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, secure coding and non-functional requirements.
- Experience with GitHub or a comparable version-control platform, automated testing and CI/CD.
- Experience working with relational and/or document databases.
- A track record of owning complex production systems or significant technical initiatives.
- The ability to mentor engineers, influence technical decisions and explain complex concepts to different audiences.
- Experience working in agile, cross-functional product teams from discovery through to production support.
A qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline is welcomed, although equivalent professional experience is equally relevant.
Nice to have:
Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial:
- RESTful APIs, event-driven integration or resilient distributed systems
- AWS and cloud-native architecture
- Infrastructure as code
- Docker or Kubernetes
- Observability, reliability engineering and incident response
- Healthcare, regulated or privacy-sensitive environments
- Engineering communities of practice or shared platform capabilities
