We’re seeking a Senior Manager - Operational Risk Mastery to join Medibank’s Group Risk & Compliance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, leading critical risk management uplift initiatives across the enterprise. Reporting to the Program Delivery Director – Regulatory Uplifts, you will be part of a newly established integrated squad delivering transformational change that strengthens risk capability, enhances governance frameworks, and embeds a proactive risk and compliance culture across the business.
This is a unique opportunity to influence enterprise-wide risk practices, modernise key risk frameworks, drive GRC system enhancements, and partner with senior leaders to deliver meaningful and lasting outcomes in a highly regulated environment.
We are open to the right candidate being based in Sydney, Melbourne or remotely across the East Coast.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, modernisation and implementation of enterprise risk framework components, including Risk Profiling, Emerging Risk, Incident Management and Issue Management.
- Drive the consistent adoption of scalable risk processes, leveraging modern risk tools, data-driven insights and continuous improvement practices.
- Develop and maintain contemporary guidance materials, templates and standards that support effective risk management across the organisation.
- Support the development and implementation of Medibank’s strategic GRC system solution, including business requirements documentation and data governance processes.
- Establish approaches for integrating risk data into a single source of truth, improving data quality and risk reporting capabilities.
- Identify, develop and implement risk and compliance coaching, training and capability uplift initiatives across the business.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders while contributing to the successful delivery of regulatory uplift objectives.
Must haves:
- 7+ years’ experience in enterprise risk management and policy development within the Australian Financial Services industry.
- Proven ability to shape and drive a strong risk culture within a large, regulated organisation.
- Strong knowledge of APRA standards and CPS220 requirements, with demonstrated experience delivering risk uplift initiatives.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across all organisational levels.
- Strong analytical capability with experience interpreting and presenting complex technical information.
- A results-driven mindset, able to thrive in a fast-paced, initiative-led environment and deliver to agreed timeframes.
- Demonstrated integrity, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to effective risk management.
- Strategic thinking, commercial acumen and the ability to drive innovative approaches to operational risk management.
