Technical Business Analyst - Customer Identity (CIAM)
VIC, AU NSW, AU QLD, AU
You’re only human.
It’s a strange thing to say, because us humans are capable of incredible things. And at Medibank, we know our greatest potential lies in the people who work with us.
We strive to make real, fundamental change, driven by a simple purpose: to create the best health and wellbeing for all of Australia.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Business Analyst to support a customer identity and access management (CIAM) transformation, migrating from Okta to Auth0. This is an initial 6-month contract paying up to $950 per day (inclusive of super).
This is a complex, security-critical program spanning identity platforms, authentication flows, APIs, and enterprise integrations, with a strong focus on compliance, scalability, and (most importantly) customer experience. The BA will partner closely across product, architecture, security, vendors and delivery teams in a scaled agile environment.
This is very much a customer identity-focused role, where the priority is uplifting and migrating authentication experiences across digital platforms — not a traditional enterprise IAM or cyber-only role.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll play a key role in establishing Auth0 within the enterprise and supporting the transition from a legacy, highly customised authentication model to a modern, scalable CIAM platform. This includes uplifting individual member logins (including MFA), enabling seamless single sign-on across digital services, and ensuring no disruption to the customer experience throughout the migration.
At a high level, your work will cover:
- Discovery and documentation of current-state identity architecture, authentication flows and customer journeys
- Supporting foundational delivery, including Auth0 capability setup, integration with digital services, and enabling individual member logins
- Defining requirements for migration to Auth0, including replacing custom authentication flows and enabling SSO across products
- Defining requirements for key uplifts such as MFA (including risk-based MFA) and bot protection
- Supporting development of the future-state Auth0 support model
- Contributing to vendor engagement activities (RFI/RFP/RFQ) and delivery assurance
- Supporting backlog creation, refinement and readiness for agile delivery
Responsibilities
- Capture and translate business needs into clear system requirements, technical specifications and acceptance criteria
- Create end-to-end customer identity flows, business process maps and rules
- Facilitate user story mapping to visualise journeys, dependencies and priorities
- Develop high-quality business and technical user stories
- Manage an end-to-end requirements traceability approach
- Support vendor selection processes and validate delivery outputs
- Partner closely with delivery and technical teams to ensure requirements are implemented effectively
- Support solution design, testing and implementation phases
- Work with the Product Owner to refine backlog, decompose epics and ensure Definition of Ready is met
- Maintain strong documentation of decisions, assumptions and dependencies
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve delivery efficiency
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst on customer identity / CIAM projects
- Experience working on authentication or identity platform migrations (e.g. Okta, Auth0 or similar)
- Strong experience mapping customer-facing authentication journeys (login, MFA, SSO across digital platforms)
- Ability to translate business requirements into detailed, structured system requirements
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across both technical and non-technical teams
- Comfortable working in Agile / scaled Agile environments within complex programs
