The Opportunity

We’re looking for a talented API Developer to join our Platform Engineering team at Medibank. This is a hands-on development role where you’ll design and build high-quality APIs and integration solutions that power our digital platforms.

You’ll work in an agile squad, delivering user stories, mentoring team members, and shaping best practices for API development. If you’re passionate about creating scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that make a real impact, this is your chance to be part of something meaningful.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Development: Build and maintain APIs and integration solutions using technologies like SpringBoot, Apache Camel, and microservices architecture.
• Quality & Standards: Champion best practices for coding, testing, and automation to ensure high-quality, reusable digital assets.
• Collaboration: Work closely with product owners, developers, and stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with business needs.
• Support & Innovation: Troubleshoot production issues, contribute to process improvements, and drive innovation in API development.
• Agile Delivery: Participate in sprint planning, user story refinement, and all aspects of agile project delivery.

Must Haves

• Experience: 3+ years in API and integration development, with strong knowledge of REST, SOAP, and messaging patterns.
• Technical Skills: Expertise in Java, SpringBoot, Apache Camel, microservices, and AWS technologies.
• Integration Knowledge: Solid understanding of API management, SOA, middleware, and legacy integration techniques.
• Tools & Practices: Familiarity with build and automation tools (Maven, Jenkins, Bamboo) and Agile methodologies.
• Cloud & DevOps: Experience working in cloud environments (AWS) and exposure to DevOps practices.
