About this opportunity

As a GP/Medical Officer, you will provide virtual patient care and apply medical knowledge and experience in the clinical diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and ongoing management of acute conditions for patients in MHH, with the aim of achieving a much higher proportion of hospital level care episodes delivered in patients’ homes.

Scope of clinical practice is typical for a General Practitioner who has routinely managed acute presentations in the community themselves. The commonly encountered conditions (cellulitis, community acquired pneumonia; exacerbation COPD, VTE, complicated UTI) are managed in a virtual inpatient setting with support from the admitting medical team and broader multi-disciplinary team.

We are offering fixed term positions till end of September 2025 at a preferred minimum of 0.6 FTE engagement. Successful applicants will be required to work across a rotating 7-day roster including weekends. 

About You
 
We are looking for GP’s that have full unrestricted AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner with at least 5 years’ experience as medical registrar, General Practitioner and/or with specialty interest.
 

Your ability to apply theoretical knowledge and practical experience in determining the appropriate clinical diagnosis, investigations, and treatment of patients with acute conditions in line with clinical risk and compliance frameworks will be highly regarded. Confidence in providing virtual care; confidence in reviewing biometric data trends to assist with early identification of deterioration will be highly regarded.
