The Retail Team

Medibank’s Retail Network includes over 80 stores across the country to serve our 3.7 million members. Our Retail employees create a supportive environment for our members and the community. Medibank’s members visit our stores to have quality conversations about our products and services which include health, travel, pet and life insurance.

 

What’s the story?

We have a permanent full time Local Business Development Manager role available in our Retail team where you will work 37.5 hours per week across Monday to Saturday. This role will involve business development across Parramatta and North Sydney areas and interact in a face-to-face, phone and online customer environment. We have been developing new ways of working to adapt to the effects of COVID-19; our commitment is to ensure the safety and security of employees within our retail stores.

 

The role:

In this role, you will deliver better health to our customers and to Australia through our provision of health services, our health system advocacy, and our work in the community.

As a member of a strong and supportive team that puts our customers first, your role involves business development in the local area along with sales and customer service in the retail store.

By delivering exceptional service, having strong product knowledge and a positive attitude you can drive your own and the stores sales growth which will give you the opportunity to make commission on top of your salary.

Your every day:

Not every day at Medibank will be the same and being adaptable is the key to success. Some of the best elements of this role include:

  • Finding sales opportunities, while building rapport with our community and making sure you are providing solutions to our customers’ needs.
  • Organising and participating in promotional activities, in local and regional locations, including corporate activations and marketing campaigns hosted within the community at local shopping centres, community events and open days.
  • Effectively planning and executing consistent pipelines of self-generated BD (business development) activity for the local catchment, including sourcing, follow-up, presenting and activating opportunities.
  • Engaging and interacting with our members in-person at our store, over the phone and online.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of our store culture, that promotes an empowered, result-driven, quality and team focused environment.

 

Who are you?

  • You are a highly motivated and engaged sales professional who thrives in a ‘sales through service’ culture.
  • You take pride in delivering outstanding service and delivery, in a fast-paced retail environment, by remaining positive, resilient and accountable.
  • You have 1 or more years’ experience in a similar Business Development and/or proactive sales role preferably within insurance.
  • You understand the importance of staying at the forefront of technology, and you enjoy applying this knowledge to meet your customers’ needs.
  • Driving will be required in this role so you will need a car and license. Bi-lingual ability in fluent English and intermediate to fluent Mandarin preferred.
