Test Lead

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of Quality Engineers, champion quality engineering practices, and drive a culture where quality is owned by everyone—from idea through to delivery.  

Reporting to the QA Practice Lead within our Digital Platforms & Engineering team, you'll lead a group of QA Engineers while partnering closely with Engineering Leaders, Product teams and delivery squads to ensure high-quality, scalable technology solutions are delivered for our customers and people.  

You'll balance people leadership with technical expertise, helping teams build quality into their ways of working while continually improving testing practices, automation capabilities and quality outcomes.   

What you'll be doing 

• Leading, mentoring and developing a team of Quality Engineers to build capability and drive high performance.  

• Championing quality engineering practices and fostering a culture focused on defect prevention, not just defect detection.  

• Driving test planning, execution and automation across web, mobile, API and database applications.  

• Partnering with Engineering Leads and delivery teams to embed test-driven approaches and improve quality outcomes.  

• Establishing meaningful quality metrics and visualisation to measure and continuously improve quality over time.  

• Contributing to Communities of Practice and helping shape the future of Quality Engineering at Medibank.  

• Building strong relationships across technology and business teams to support successful delivery.  

About you 

You're a passionate people leader who enjoys coaching others and creating environments where teams can thrive. You're equally comfortable discussing quality strategy with senior stakeholders as you are diving into technical discussions with engineers and testers.  

You'll bring:

• Significant experience in software testing and quality engineering, including hands-on test automation across web, mobile and APIs.  

• Experience leading and developing QA teams within agile delivery environments.  

• Strong knowledge of modern test automation frameworks, CI/CD practices and quality engineering principles.   

• Experience working with tools such as Playwright, Postman and mobile automation frameworks.   

• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.  

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a passion for continuous improvement. 

• The ability to inspire, mentor and lead others through change and growth.
