Squad Lead Management Assurance

The Opportunity  

As a Squad Lead Management Assurance joining Medibank, you will play a key role leading how we manage risk across the Customer Group, helping teams make confident, well-informed decisions.  

This Senior Leadership role leads and develops a team of trusted Management Assurance advisors, partnering with leaders across the Customer Group to identify, assess and manage risk, while fostering a strong and proactive risk culture. 

This is a 12-month opportunity  

Your impact  

• Partner with senior leaders to identify, assess and manage operational and compliance risks across the Customer Group  

• Lead and coach a team of Management Assurance advisors to ensure controls, processes and risk practices are effective and embedded  

• Provide clear, practical advice on risk treatment, business initiatives and strategic projects  

• Work collaboratively with 2nd line Risk and Compliance functions and positively contribute to ongoing enhancement of the three lines of defence model and support the ongoing maturity of Medibank’s risk management practices and culture 

• Conduct risk workshops and assessments on new risks, business initiatives and projects.  

• Advise risk owners on selecting the most appropriate risk treatment  

• Lead cultural and behavioural change and implement change initiatives as required 

• Oversee risk reporting, governance forums and the Divisional Risk Committee, ensuring insight is clear and actionable  

• Support a positive risk culture by driving continuous improvement, change initiatives and best practice across the group   

Key skills / strengths: 

We’re looking for someone who brings a mix of leadership, curiosity and strong judgement. You might come from different industries or backgrounds, but you’ll likely bring: 

• Strong experience in risk management, assurance or compliance, ideally in complex or regulated environments 

• Experience leading teams and building capability in others 

• Extensive experience designing and implementing risk management systems  

• Ability to simplify complex information and communicate it clearly to a range of audiences 

• Lead cultural and behavioural change and implement change initiatives as required  

• Ability to derive new ideas and use abstract thinking to drive forward Risk Management. 

• Confidence to influence and challenge senior stakeholders in a constructive way 

• A collaborative mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships across teams 

• Strategic thinking, with the ability to balance risk, customer outcomes and business goals
