You’re only human.

It’s a strange thing to say, because us humans are capable of incredible things. And at Medibank, we know our greatest potential lies in the people who work with us.

We strive to make real, fundamental change, driven by a simple purpose: to create the best health and wellbeing for all of Australia.

The Opportunity

Medibank has an opportunity for a strategic senior leader in Identity and Access Management (IDAM) to lead and direct the technologies, capabilities, and governance required to uplift and optimise identity security across the organisation.

This is a senior leadership role with enterprise-wide accountability for Medibank’s IDAM function. Leading a high-performing team of identity security specialists, you will be a key member of the CISO leadership team and responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and compliant identity services that support Medibank’s strategic goals.

As the steward of digital trust across our platforms, you will play a critical role in securing access to sensitive health data, enhancing member experience through seamless and secure identity interactions, and ensuring alignment with regulatory obligations such as APRA CPS 234, ISO 27001, and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

About You

You will oversee the full identity lifecycle—including user provisioning, role and access governance, privileged access management, authentication and federation strategies, and access reviews—ensuring controls are risk-aligned, auditable, and continuously improved. You will also lead the response to identity-related incidents and access anomalies, applying your deep technical expertise to manage operational risks and drive a proactive identity security posture.

The Head of Identity and Access Management must have a strong understanding of identity security, zero trust and privacy-by-design principles, and demonstrate experience in building and operating enterprise-grade IDAM functions. A clear grasp of the regulatory and threat landscape, particularly in the health and insurance sectors, is essential.

Additionally, you will bring a strategic mindset to identity governance, integrating security, usability, and business enablement. You will champion secure-by-design principles across all identity initiatives and ensure the tools, processes, and people behind Medibank’s IDAM function are continuously evolving to meet emerging threats, technology shifts, and regulatory change.
