The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer – Mobile/Web to join our growing digital team. This role is critical in ensuring the quality, performance, and reliability of our web (react) apps, APIs (REST) and mobile (native iOS / Android) apps – which are built and maintained internally but heavily integrates with multiple third-party technology partners. The Test Automation Engineer will work closely with engineers, delivery managers, and business stakeholders to define, execute, and automate test strategies that align with our agile delivery model.

You will be working with the Digital and Ventures team of Medibank, primarily focused on the EAP and Mental health app initiatives that is being rolled out to market as greenfield stealth projects.

This is a hands-on senior testing role where you will be responsible for designing test cases, identifying defects, and implementing test automation strategies to optimise the CI/CD pipeline, provide automate reporting on regression and quality metrics, driving high-quality software releases. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the engineering testing process and stack! You will work in a cross-functional agile team, ensuring our products meet business requirements and deliver exceptional user experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver timely, high-quality development solutions that are fit-for-purpose and supportable.
• Collaborate with Digital, Ventures, Business teams, and external partners to ensure top-quality technology delivery.
• Analyse system requirements and address potential issues before implementation.
• Troubleshoot problems, conduct code reviews, and promote knowledge sharing within the team.
• Support testing efforts including System, Integration, and User Acceptance Testing.
• Maintain application documentation, version control, and configuration management to safeguard production services.
• Report on project progress, manage exceptions, and escalate issues as needed.
• Stay current on industry trends and information security standards while prioritizing customer needs and experience.

Must haves:

• Minimum 5+ years testing experience on mobile apps and web-applications
• Worked within an agile environment utilising BDD for 1+ year.
• Understanding of test levels, test types and varied advanced test techniques; and
• Strong experience with Jira, and Atlassian stack for process management is mandatory
• Strong knowledge of web application testing, including functional, regression, and performance testing.
• Strong Experience with test automation frameworks for UI and API testing (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, maestro, Percy, Selenium, REST Assured).
• Good knowledge of React applications and web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Good knowledge of mobile & web technologies with exposure in iOS and android development practices, native & hybrid mobile apps.
• Strong experience in API testing using tools like Postman or similar.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated test integration.
• Experience working in an agile team using tools like Jira and Confluence.
