Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack

The Senior Full Stack Software Engineer for Medibank Digital Engineering is a hands-on development role responsible for delivering innovative technological solutions. You’ll work across the entire SDLC within the Medibank Web space, helping to modernize several of Medibank’s core functions.

This is a senior-level role, ideal for someone currently in a similar position or looking to take the next step in their career. This is a true full stack position that spreads across both the front end with React/Javascript and the backend using Java. 

The Responsibilities:

• Completes development deliverables in a timely manner and to the appropriate level of quality so that the delivered solutions are fit-for purpose, can be efficiently supported and the impact of future change requests can be assessed.
• Works with D&V, the Business and external partners to ensure that the technology solutions are delivered on time, on schedule and on budget.
• Collaborates with the team to provide estimations.
• Works across D&V to assess system requirements and specifications, identifying and addressing any potential issues prior to implementation.
• Designs technical solutions of assigned technology solutions for initiatives.
• Assists and supports testing activities (e.g. System, Integration and User Acceptance).
• Creates and updates application documentation so that support can be efficiently performed, and the impact of future change requests can be assessed.
• Follows all change control procedures and put in place full version control and
• configuration management to ensure that the production service is not compromised.
• Follows the procedures for reporting on the progress of systems development
• projects, taking action to deal with exceptions, problems and unforeseen events in a timely manner, escalating as appropriate.
• Contributes to post implementation reviews to incorporate learning into future work.
• Contributes to continuous improvements and constantly demonstrates a capability improvement mindset.
• Recommends options for improving operational efficiency and standards.
• Acts as a business change driver to improve value, operational efficiency and
• productivity.

About You

• 6-8+ years relevant industry experience or demonstrated capability in similar roles.
• You will have high-level experience in the following technologies:
  • High level Java backend experience (Any skills Content management systems is highly desirable)
  • ReactJS, Javascript, GIT, Jira, Confluence, Github Actions or equivalent.
  • Micro-Frontends and Mono-repos (desirable but not essential)
  • RESTful APIs and microservices patterns.
  • NextJS or any other similar SSR frameworks.
  • AWS Cloud Services.
• Extensive software design and implementation mentorship experience.
• Any experience with Adobe Experience Manager (not essential but beneficial).
• Experience working in an agile team utilising the Scrum or Kanban methodologies.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices patterns.
• Good understanding of test-driven development, continuous integration, continuous delivery and building high quality solutions.
