The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior SharePoint Online Platform Engineer to join Medibank. In this newly created role, you will be the main point of accountability for Medibank’s SharePoint Online platform. You’ll ensure SharePoint remains secure, reliable and easy to use, while enabling modern collaboration, intranet experiences and scalable self‑service through strong governance and thoughtful automation.

Your duties?

In this role, you’ll combine deep SharePoint expertise with an engineering mindset and strong governance capability. You will:

• Own SharePoint Online as an enterprise platform, setting tenant‑wide standards, policies and controls
• Design and enforce governance across sites, hubs, permissions, sharing and lifecycle management
• Lead SharePoint‑native site provisioning and automation using templates, site scripts and Power Automate
• Manage platform health, risks and improvements across SharePoint, Teams‑connected sites and intranet services
• Provide technical oversight for SPFx solutions, ensuring secure, supportable and well‑governed customisations
• Partner closely with security, intranet, service and delivery teams to balance risk, usability and scale

Key skills / strengths

We’re looking for someone who brings strong platform ownership and a calm, practical approach to governance. Key strengths include:

• Extensive hands‑on experience administering SharePoint Online in an enterprise environment
• Deep understanding of modern SharePoint permissions, hub sites, and the relationship between Teams, M365 Groups and SharePoint
• Strong capability designing and operating SharePoint‑native site provisioning using templates, site scripts and Power Automate
• An engineering mindset, with experience delivering repeatable, automated and well‑documented platform changes
• Solid knowledge of sharing, external collaboration and security controls, and how to apply least‑privilege at scale
• Experience governing or reviewing SPFx solutions, with the ability to assess risk and supportability
• Clear communication skills and confidence working with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• A continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on reducing risk, effort and platform friction
