Due to business growth, we are looking for an experienced Senior Risk Advisor - Taxonomy to join us in this newly created role. This 12-month fixed term project role is dedicated to supporting the enhancement and uplift of Medibank’s risk and compliance frameworks.

This role will play a key role in driving initiatives that strengthen governance, improve regulatory alignment and embed robust risk management practices across the organisation. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across various business units, this role will contribute to the development and implementation of strategic improvements that ensure the company’s operations remain resilient, compliant, and forward-looking in an evolving regulatory landscape.

The role will implementing a new risk taxonomy across the organisation. This includes overseeing the identification and assessment of key risks within each of the business lines, in line with the requirements of the risk and compliance management frameworks.

Day to day this role will see you

  • Deciding if your day is best spent working from home or the office (we don’t go for mandated office attendance days here).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate the development and/or enhancement of risk and compliance data (i.e., risks, obligations, controls, incidents, indicators) that aids effective risk management.
  • Be a trusted Advisor to management, including acting as a key reference for risk and compliance taxonomy and other project related activities, in order to effectively convey high-quality business insight, advice and constructive challenge.
  • Provide support and coaching to Management Assurance (Line 1) teams in the facilitation of risk and compliance content development aligned to the taxonomy
  • Support the performance of risk workshops and assessments of risk profiles
  • Taking time out to recharge – you might hit the pavement for a walking meeting with a colleague, pop out to a lunchtime gym class or take a mid morning meditation break.  

What do we need from you?

First and foremost, you’ll need to have Fundamental knowledge and significant practical experience of operational risk and compliance frameworks, methodologies, management and control techniques – this is an essential. You will have the confidence and credibility to provide advice to and influence senior stakeholders and the ability to work well across a range of stakeholders across the business, as this role supports not only Medibank but also ahm and Amplar Health.  

You will need to have experience in designing, implementing and using operational risk and compliance tools and methodologies as well as the ability to derive new ideas and use abstract thinking to drive forward initiatives and projects.
