The Opportunity – Senior Risk Adviser – Management Assurance (Line 1 Risk) 

 

As a Senior Risk Adviser – Management Assurance (Line 1 Risk), you will own and manage key relationships with Senior Executive, facilitate and present at Executive Risk Committees, provide ‘first line of defence’ advice to the business in managing its risk and compliance obligations, embed strong risk culture practices and support risk remediation activities (including risk profiling, incident, control, action management).  

 

How you will create value 

 

In this high impact, varied and visible role, you will use your exceptional relationship management and risk management knowledge to add value to Medibank by: 

  • Developing strong, transparent and collaborative relationships with Senior Management to influence meaningful change and embed risk culture. 

  • Leading risk profiling activities (including preparing the annual review and insights for Divisional and Executive Risk Committees). 

  • Facilitating / preparing high quality reporting and insights for Divisional Risk Committees on risk and compliance matters, including performance against Medibank’s risk management and compliance frameworks. 

  • Supporting the business in navigating the regulatory landscape governing the PHI industry, including Prudential Standards (e.g. CPS220, CPS230), the Financial Accountability Regime (FAR) and other relevant regulatory frameworks. 

  • Supporting the business in identifying and managing incidents (operational risk events, including compliance and regulatory incidents). You will identify, analyse and address systemic issues to reduce the likelihood of future occurrence. 

  • Supporting the implementation of Medibank’s risk management and compliance frameworks and strategy. 

  • Improving the control design, strength and mix across the business to reduce the likelihood and impact of operational risk incidents. 

 

About you 

 

You have proven knowledge of risk management frameworks and operational risk methodologies with a demonstrated ability to embed these in a dynamic environment.  

 

Other key requirements include: 

  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and influencing skills. A proven ability to partner with the business (including directly with Senior Executive) to shape risk-informed strategy and decision making. 

  • Demonstrated communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills. A proven ability to rationalise and clearly articulate complex concepts and insights. 

  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills. A proven ability to synthesise and simplify complex information / data and translate these insights into pragmatic decisions that drive commercial outcomes. 

  • Demonstrated organisational and prioritisation skills, with an ability to manage and coordinate competing priorities and deadlines in a professional manner.
