The Opportunity – Senior Risk & Compliance Adviser – 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract 

 

This role plays a critical part in supporting the effectiveness and continuous improvement of Medibank's enterprise risk and compliance frameworks, helping to strengthen oversight, assurance and risk management practices across the organisation.  

 

As part of Medibank’s second line Operational Risk Mastery unit, you will partner with stakeholders across the business to provide expert risk and compliance advice, independent oversight and constructive challenge, while supporting key enterprise risk initiatives and regulatory obligations. 

 

How you will create value

 

In this broad and dynamic role, you will add value by: 

  • Supporting the oversight and continuous improvement of Medibank's Risk Management Framework and Compliance Management Framework to ensure risks are effectively managed within appetite. 

  • Providing independent oversight, guidance and constructive challenge to business stakeholders on risk, compliance and control effectiveness. 

  • Reviewing and overseeing risk assessments, treatment plans and risk management activities to ensure they are robust, fit for purpose and aligned to enterprise requirements. 

  • Monitoring, overseeing and analysing incident reporting across the business, identifying trends, emerging risks and opportunities to strengthen controls and the overall control environment. 

  • Delivering assurance and oversight activities across key risk and compliance processes, including issue management, action management and compliance obligations. 

  • Preparing high-quality risk insights, reporting and committee papers to support governance forums, senior leaders and risk committees. 

  • Contributing to enterprise risk uplift initiatives, regulatory change programs and risk culture outcomes that enhance organisational resilience and maturity. 

 

About you 

 

You are a seasoned risk and compliance professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and can quickly establish credibility with stakeholders. With strong oversight and assurance experience, you are comfortable providing independent challenge, analysing complex risk information and translating insights into practical business outcomes. Your ability to influence stakeholders and hit the ground running will be key to your success. 

 

Key attributes and experience include: 

  • Demonstrated experience in Risk Management, Compliance, Oversight, Assurance and/or Operational Risk within a highly regulated industry such as banking, insurance or broader financial services. 

  • Strong experience in Line 2 Risk and Compliance functions, with Line 1 risk experience also beneficial. 

  • Demonstrated experience conducting oversight and assurance activities across risk management, compliance and control frameworks. 

  • Experience monitoring and analysing incident reporting, identifying trends, emerging risks and opportunities for control improvement. 

  • Strong understanding of enterprise risk management, compliance obligations and prudential regulatory requirements. 

  • Exposure to APRA standards including CPS 230 and ASIC regulatory requirements, including RG271 and/or RG274, will be highly regarded.
