The Opportunity 

Join our Experience design team as a Senior Product Designer – Design System, who defines and delivers high-quality, accessible, and scalable design system foundations that enable consistent customer experiences across Medibank’s digital platforms. 

Working within an agile, cross-functional Design System squad, this role is primarily hands-on, focused on designing, refining, documenting, and maintaining shared components, patterns, and system foundations used across web and mobile. 

This role is customer-obsessed in two directions: 

• Designing accessible, inclusive experiences that meet the needs of Medibank customers

• Enabling product teams as primary system users by creating clear, intuitive, and well-documented system solutions that support confident adoption and contribution. 

The Senior Product Designer partners closely with the Design system lead, product designers, engineers, and product managers to translate real product needs into scalable system outcomes, while contributing insights that help evolve the Design System over time. 

Please note this is a 12 month Fixed Term opportunity  

Key Responsibilities:

• Execution excellence - Execution of high-quality design system components, patterns, and foundations that are scalable, accessible, and production ready.
• Design Operations - Contribution to the maintenance, documentation, governance, and continuous improvement of the Design System and associated design operations.
• Design Strategy - Contribution of insights and recommendations that inform the evolution of the Design System, grounded in customer outcomes and product team needs.
• Behaviours - Role model customer-centricity, collaboration, ownership, and a growth mindset within the Design System squad and broader design community. 

Must haves: 

• Proven experience contributing to or scaling a large-scale or multi-brand design system
• Strong UI craft, attention to detail, and a customer-centred systems mindset
• Advanced proficiency in Figma (libraries, variables, component architecture)
• Fluency with design system tooling, including Supernova, for documentation, tokens, and design-to-code workflows
• Working knowledge of front-end technologies (e.g. React, HTML/CSS, native platforms) and design tokens
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence through clarity and evidence
• Experience working in complex, cross-functional digital environments.
