Senior Manager – Risk Advisory 

 

This role plays a critical part in uplifting and embedding Medibank’s enterprise wide risk management practices to support strong decision making and sustainable outcomes. 

 

Reporting to the Squad Lead – Risk and Compliance Frameworks and Policies, you will act as a senior subject matter expert, providing thought leadership across enterprise risk management. Working closely with senior leaders, you will design, modernise and embed Medibank’s core risk frameworks, policies and standards in line with regulatory expectations and strategic priorities. 

 

This role offers the opportunity to apply deep enterprise risk expertise, structured problem solving and stakeholder influence to strengthen risk capability and uplift risk culture across the organisation. 

 

How you will create value 

 

In this broad and dynamic role, you will add value by: 

  • Leading the design, maintenance and continuous improvement of enterprise wide risk management frameworks and policies, including the Risk Management Framework, Risk Appetite Statement and Operational Risk Management Framework. 

  • Ensuring alignment with APRA expectations, better practice and Medibank’s strategic objectives. 

  • Delivering risk uplift initiatives and implementing changes arising from regulatory reforms, APRA reviews, CPS 220 / CPS 230 expectations and assurance outcomes. 

  • Providing proactive, commercially grounded risk and compliance advice on strategic initiatives, regulatory developments and business change. 

  • Facilitating structured risk maturity assessments and providing actionable insights to drive continuous improvement. 

  • Contributing as a senior leader within the Risk and Compliance community, supporting cultural and behavioural change initiatives. 

 

About you 

 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8-10 years' experience in the Risk and Compliance profession, with a solid understanding of risk management, compliance disciplines, and the regulatory environment in which Medibank operates.  

 

You’ll have relevant qualification/accreditation in Commerce, Law and/or Technology and have in-depth technical knowledge and understanding of the Financial Services and/or Private Health sector regulatory framework including APRA, and requirements in relation to Risk and Compliance Management 

 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the proven ability to work collaboratively in a team, contribute proactively to continuous improvement, and manage relationships with stakeholders. The candidate should also have the ability to influence and negotiate change within a large organisation, build strong, open relationships, and manage competing priorities in a professional and risk-based manner. Your credibility, judgement and advisory capability will be essential to success in this role.
