The purpose of this role is to effectively and efficiently manage Medibank’s and ahm’s commercial relationships with hospital providers, with the goal of optimising value and achieving our Triple Aim of Healthcare (outcome, quality, and affordability). Work from home.


How will you add value?


The Senior Hospital Contract and Relationships Manager will play a key role in supporting the division to achieve its vision and purpose. They have overall responsibility for managing the contract and relationship between H&S and their hospitals and groups. In doing so, the incumbent will:


  • Act as a commercial account manager for a range of independent and group hospitals:
    • Own the primary strategic relationship and commercial accountability for the contractual requirements and performance of their hospitals and groups.
    • Develop and lead all contract negotiations that maximize value across their portfolio
    • Oversee the relationship between business initiatives and relevant hospitals in the portfolio.


  • Apply business intelligence, data analytics, risk analysis and provider insights into the contract planning, relationship management and negotiation strategy
  • Develop recommendations to internal executive stakeholders for the contract negotiation process
  • Manage timely compliance with all contractual reporting, provider obligations and key contractual performance indicators
  • Work across business units in H&S (Strategy, Clinical, Payment Integrity and Analytics) to ensure hospital portfolios are managed according to the broader H&S objectives i.e. health cost leadership and clinical quality
  • Ensure the Hospital, Medical and Overseas Benefits leadership team is kept informed of portfolio/market dynamics and issues that could impact on-going hospital relationship and contractual effectiveness.
  • Develop in-depth understanding of business drivers for your portfolio and consequences for the management of the hospital relationship and the contract



Who are we looking for?


We are looking for an experienced relationship manager with solid background in negotiating strategic and complex contracts and the ability to manage operational and contractual risk. This experience should come from a complex provider health services delivery environment.


You will be a team player with the ability to network and manage key relationships with a diversity of stakeholders, including senior level executives.


Solid Project Management experience as well as relevant health and/or business qualifications, including demonstrated knowledge and experience within the private health insurance industry would be a distinctive advantage.
