The Opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Clinical Auditor to join our Health Audit team. This is a new role within our growing Health Audit team.

Medibank’s health services complement our private health insurance business and include telehealth services for government and corporate customers, care coordination, allied health care and hospital in the home services. We help customers navigate the health system to get the care they need to better manage their health and wellbeing.


This role will support the preparation, scheduling and conduct of audits and deliver detailed audit result findings in line with audit outcomes. A key part of this role will also be to lead and manage clinical audit functions within the Health Audit team.


In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Drive development and implementation of the strategic vision for the Clinical Audit Team in collaboration with the Head of Health Audits and Prevention.
  • Create and implement annual ICU, Rehabilitation and Psychiatric audit plans for all relevant hospitals.
  • Lead, coach and develop the Clinical Audit team to drive performance and achieve annual targets.
  • Support the development of relevant Hospital Purchaser Provider Agreement (HPPA) clauses.
  • Document audit outcomes including identified overpayments/ underpayments.
  • Work with the Health Audit & Prevention Leadership Team to identify and recommend appropriate enhancements.
  • Establish robust operational reporting and action planning to respond to exceptions in activities and/or financial results. 



In order to be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A qualification in Nursing (essential) preferably in Mental Health/ Psychiatric Nursing.
  • A Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Australian health sectors, health economics and health policy.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen in the interpretation of data and development of fact-based recommendations.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in a healthcare-related setting.
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of the private health insurance sector (desirable).
