Product Design & CX Lead

Job Requisition Number:  12172
Date:  2 Dec 2024
Location:

DOCKLANDS, VIC, AU, 3008

At ahm, we think work should work with you.

Because let’s face it, life’s too short for a job you dread. Work means different things to different people.

We’re all about making real, meaningful change. Our mission? Simple. To improve the health and wellbeing of Australians, starting with our team. We’re constantly shaking things up to make work better for everyone.

About the role

We’re excited to provide the opportunity for an experienced and strategic CX and Product Design Lead to join us in a 12 month fixed term position. This role designs and leads the User Experience and Product Design strategy across our digital channels. It takes a comprehensive perspective on our entire customer journey; identifying opportunities for Design to guide, inform, and enhance the user experience; with a focus on ensuring our products and services are both accessible and enjoyable to use.

We’ve made some changes here at ahm recently which we’re really stoked about. We are all about autonomy and have adopted an agile way of working and are structured around eight squads - each is aligned to the stages of the customer lifecycle.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overarching and end-to-end design capability within the ahm Digital Team and leads a team of high performing Product Designers across these cross-functional agile delivery squads. The designers are responsible for partnering with stakeholders across the different squads to develop customer insights, concepts, prototypes and interaction designs for development.

As part of the Medibank Group, we have a huge focus on health and wellbeing. This means flexible working and continuous improvement to our ways of working. You can read more about one of the exciting initiatives we are currently trialling to support this here: 4 Day Work Week Trial.

Day to day, this role will see you:

  • Deciding if your day is best spent working from home or the office. We don’t go for mandated office attendance days here at ahm (though our new offices are pretty amazing and we have an onsite Barista, so you’ll probably want to spend time there!).
  • Working with our awesome Digital Product, Research, Brand, Marketing and CX teams to develop and maintain an excellent digital design experience strategy that supports the ongoing delivery of our key propositions via digital channels.
  • Planning and coordinating design capacity to ensure prioritised initiatives are effectively supported for end-to-end delivery.
  • Strengthening our DesignOps capability and contributing to our Design Playbook and learning program
  • Defining the end-to-end product design workflow for designers to effectively deliver within an agile environment, in line with the Digital operating model and ways of working.
  • Coaching and guiding Product Designers with their day-to-day design work; helping with their overall development; and providing a safe space for them to flourish
  • Collaborate with Product and Technology teams to develop and maintain a cohesive Design System across web and mobile experiences.
  • Coordinating ahm’s Design System, including helping advise on ways to create scalable, flexible UI components, interaction patterns and design principles.
  • Helping to drive a customer obsessed and progressive culture to deliver the best experiences for our members and prospects
  • Taking some time out to restore and recharge – you might head out for a walking one on one with a team member in the sunshine, get to a lunchtime yoga class or schedule time in your calendar to get to your child's school assembly.

Now, who are you?

Enough about us already, let’s talk about you…

You’re a seasoned senior design leader, with a strategic mindset, but aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves. This is a big role, so you’ll need to have big experience and most importantly big energy. You’ll be passionate about all things CX and have a proven track record in leading successful teams.

Ideally, you’ll have spent time working in the services space, the more complex the better – think insurance, energy, or finance. You’ll need to be a real people person with a knack for building effective, positive working relationships – from confidently leading a team of awesome individuals; or running a collaborative workshop; to influencing and negotiating with senior management, you’ll be comfortable doing it all.

You’ll thrive on working in a fast-paced environment and be pretty confident in your ability to keep the plates spinning. You’re intelligent and you know your stuff, but you’re also excited by the thought of working for a brand that will challenge you to operate outside the usual corporate box – we keep it simple but most importantly fun.

Imagine working with us

At ahm, we think work should be as exciting as finding a surprise donut in the kitchen at lunch (and occasionally you just might). We kick the old, boring ways to the curb and encourage you to think outside the box – experiment a little. We’re not afraid to ruffle some feathers and have a bit of fun while we’re at it. Try new things, explore different areas of the business, and upskill like a pro. It’s one big team adventure here, and the chances to grow are endless.

Oh, and did we mention we have some great benefits too? https://careers.medibank.com.au/culture/rewards-benefits/

Happy, healthy people make awesome teams. With ahm, work should feel good — like, really good. It’s about finding joy, fulfillment, and the right team to share it with.
