The Mobility Specialist is responsible for managing and supporting the organisation’s mobile device environment, ensuring secure, compliant, and reliable operation of corporate phones and tablets.

 

Using Microsoft Intune and related tools, this role focuses on mobile device enrolment, policy management, application deployment, security compliance, and end-user support across iOS/iPadOS and Android platforms.

 

The Responsibilities:

  • Manage enrolment and configuration of corporate and BYO iOS/iPadOS and Android devices using Microsoft Intune (Endpoint Manager).
  • Apply and maintain mobile compliance policies, including passcode enforcement, encryption, conditional access, and app protection.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot enrolment methods such as Apple DEP/ABM and Android Enterprise (Work Profile / Fully Managed).
  • Monitor device compliance and take corrective actions for non-compliant or compromised devices.
  • Deploy and update mobile applications via Intune, Apple VPP, and managed Google Play.
  • Assign and maintain configuration profiles, e.g. VPN policies, email setups, Wi-Fi configurations, and certificates.
  • Support version control and testing of mobile apps before rollout.
  • Support the enforcement of MDM/MAM policies to protect corporate data on mobile devices.
  • Work with the cybersecurity team to identify and resolve security risks (e.g., jailbroken/rooted devices, outdated OS versions).
  • Track and respond to incidents involving lost, stolen, or non-compliant mobile devices.
  • Provide third-level support to staff experiencing issues with corporate mobile phones and tablets.
  • Troubleshoot device enrolment, profile installation, application access, and policy enforcement issues.
  • Guide support staff and where required, users through setup processes and provide clear instructions for mobile device usage in line with IT policies.
  • Coordinate, test, and implement IW changes (e.g. software rollouts, policy updates) with minimal business disruption through formal change processes.
  • Communicate planned changes to end users and stakeholders, ensuring documentation and scheduling align with TECC and/or CAB governance.
  • Respond to and resolve incidents related to end-user devices, applications, and services using tools like Intune. 
  • Accurately log, prioritize, and escalate issues as needed, ensuring timely updates and resolution for impacted users.
  • Identify recurring issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions to reduce incident volumes. 
  • Maintain and update knowledge articles and known error records to support faster issue resolution across the support team.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for mobile device setup, configuration, and support procedures.
  • Collaborate with the service desk, security, and infrastructure teams to improve the mobile experience.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improving mobile device lifecycle and support practices.

 

About You:

  • Hands-on experience with mobile device management tools, particularly Microsoft Intune for iOS and Android.
  • Working knowledge of Apple Business Manager/DEP, Android Enterprise, KNOX and managed app deployment.
  • Understanding of conditional access, compliance policies, MAM/MDM configurations, and identity-based access control.
  • Experience supporting end users with mobile setup, apps, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with mobile security concepts (e.g., encryption, jailbreak/root detection, app protection policies).
  • Experience managing mobile fleets in regulated or security-sensitive environments.
  • Exposure to scripting or automation for reporting or device compliance tracking.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft 365: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or mobility-focused training.
  • Develop and manage device compliance policies and integrate them with Conditional Access to enforce secure access controls.
  • Collaborate with identity/security teams to design, test, and implement CA policies that align with organisational security standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Conditional Access and device compliance, ensuring minimal disruption to end-user experience.
