The Opportunity
Join our Experience design team as a Junior Product Designer, where you’ll contribute to the design and delivery of digital products and experiences, working closely with a Senior Product Designer within a cross-functional product team. The role supports the development of customer-centred design solutions across the product lifecycle, while building capability across core product design skills including interaction design, UI design, wireframing, prototyping, user research and usability testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execution Support
Contribute to the end-to-end Product Design process for a digital product, working under the guidance of a Senior Product Designer. Develop an understanding of customer and business problems and contribute to exploring, testing and delivering solutions.
- Design Practice & Operations
Develop familiarity with the tools, frameworks, systems and ways of working that support Product Design at Medibank, seeking guidance from relevant asset owners and experienced designers where required.
- Data Driven Design
Develop an understanding of how customer and product data can inform design decisions and help measure the impact of digital experiences.
- Craft & Growth
Actively develop Product Design skills through hands-on experience, feedback, coaching and collaboration, while contributing to a culture of trust, transparency and customer-centricity.
About You
- 0-2 years experience in design or related/adjacent field or recent relevant degree/certification in design, user experience, or related field.
- Demonstrated ability in design across either discovery or delivery, with eagerness to learn how to work with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of structured problem solving including problem definition and analysis, with eagerness to develop skills in facilitation and discussion.
- Building an understanding of technical principles, with willingness to learn how to work with engineering to understand technology requirements and capabilities.
- Interest in research and digital analytics platforms and willingness to learn how to use them to understand user behaviour.
- Developing written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clearly articulating design-related concepts.
- Demonstrated creative thinking and willingness to develop analytical problem-solving skills, including understanding of qualitative and quantitative analysis.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design thinking, process, and fundamental visual design skills.
