The Role:
The Iteration Manager is responsible for leading one or more squads in planning and execution of delivery and release. They lead the day-to-day delivery of the squad(s) to ensure they are aligned to priorities, keep stakeholders informed and engaged, manage risks/issues and dependencies, improve output quality, and remove delivery impediments.
The IM drives maturity in agile principles and ways of working to deliver value to customers with speed and stability. They coach and mentor the team on agility and delivery-focused principles. Reporting directly to the Digital Delivery Leader, this role will focus on achieving business and team outcomes in alignment to the DPPE and Delivery strategies. Whilst the Iteration Manager is not accountable for people management functions of squad(s), they will lead cross functional teams and drive a strong culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
The Responsibilities:
- Responsible for end-to-end planning and the delivery and outcomes of squad/s and be the focal point of contact to the business and leadership teams
- Lead and facilitate quarterly planning for all squads to ensure all business objectives are translated into a coherent delivery plan which is clearly visible, communicated and tracked on a regular basis with their squad/hub leads
- Initiate, develop, and maintain strong and effective internal and external stakeholder communication
- Partner with product management to drive clarity of business priority within squads and ensure an active backlog is consistently well maintained
- Enable the team to deliver on sprint objectives by removing impediments and seeking clarity from key stakeholders to achieve business and customer outcomes
- Facilitate Scrum Cadences such as Daily Stand-ups, Sprint planning, Review & Showcases
- Manage the End-to-End release process
- Coordinate customer release activities in strong collaboration with other technology teams where required
- Enable teams to manage our technology platform risk through supporting continued uplift in security and obsolescence footprint
- Management of project vendor relationships and dependencies.
- Single point of contact for removal of delivery impediments.
- Inputs into and reviews project work products and deliverables.
- Provides Agile specific project status reporting, e.g. Iteration Burn-down and Release Burn-up charts and Feature progress.
- Leads the transition to support activities such as knowledge management to support team.
- Championing the continuous improvement of delivery, quality, platform, and customer-valued release
- Collect and utilise data and metrics to lead decision making and process improvement.
- Coach squads on Agile ways of working, fostering continuous improvement to grow agile maturity, resilience and high performance
- Guides and educates the team on self-organising to fully realise the potential of Agile/Scrum frameworks and improve agility of teams
About You:
- Highly Experienced in IT/Digital platform delivery experience
- Have managed & led Scrum teams
- Exceptional Delivery Leadership capabilities
- Experienced in facilitating ceremonies, lead without authority, coached and mentored.
- Ability to exercise technical judgment in solving software engineering challenges.
- Bring in experience of working with scrum teams with sound judgment, keen eye for detail and tenacity for empowering the team to solve issues
- Bring a positive/vibrant energy to the team and thrive on strong culture and values
- Experience in Digital teams and Agile ways of working
- Experience in software development process, online design and usability principles
- Iteration Manager certification (or equivalent) to support agile best practice or experience in managing delivery squads / scrum teams
- Constant improvement within the teams and embedding a continuous improvement culture
