The Opportunity

In this role as a Data Science Analyst at Medibank you will have the overall responsibility of supporting the Payment Integrity Program Strategy through the analysis of claims profiles to detect and prevent financial crime, improper payments, and inform decision making.

 

You will monitor and analyse claiming profiles and provide targeted recommendations, commentary, and insights to in order to detect and prevent fraud and error. You will work as part of a team to develop, test, deploy, and document models for the identification of possible cases of fraud and error. You will work with stakeholders to identify requirements, develop analysis products, and communicate results and insights.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying fraud and error through rule based, machine learning, or other analytical techniques.
  • Developing new machine learning and predictive models under guidance.
  • Scoping, developing, and communicating analysis and insights to stakeholders.
  • Providing targeted commentary on Payment Integrity related trends the Senior Leadership Team and other stakeholders.
  • Coaching and training stakeholders in the use of payment integrity solutions.
  • Supporting development through report prototyping and providing subject matter expertise to our business stakeholders.

 

 

About You

You will work under guidance to analyse complex data and develop innovative, business focused reporting and analysis. You will be a team player and strong communicator with the ability to influence at a stakeholder level. You will have the capability to analyse trends and data and have an intermediate level familiarity with at least one of SAS, SQL, R, or Python programming languages.

 

You will have the ability to work within a corporate environment and you will be tertiary qualified in either, mathematics, informatics, economics, statistics, health or a related discipline. A private health insurance or health industry background is desirable, but not essential for this position.
