The Opportunity – Internal Audit Manager 

This role plays a critical part in strengthening Medibank’s risk and control environment, supporting our ambition to be a trusted and well-governed health partner. Reporting to the Squad Lead (Head Of) – Internal Audit, you will lead the delivery of internal audits across Medibank, with a particular focus on Data Management, Technology, Information Security and Artificial Intelligence related risks. The Internal Audit Manager will also play a key role in evolving Medibank’s Internal Audit function into a technology-enabled, data-driven and AI-enabled assurance function.  

Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, you will provide independent assurance, identify opportunities to strengthen controls and governance, and help drive a culture of effective risk management and continuous improvement.  

How you will create value 

In this broad and dynamic role, you will add value by: 

• Leading and supporting the planning, execution and delivery of internal audit engagements predominantly focused on Medibank’s Data, Technology and Information Security domains. Managing end-to-end audit activities, including scoping, fieldwork, reporting and stakeholder engagement. 

• Evaluating the design and effectiveness of controls and identifying opportunities to improve risk management, governance and business processes. 

• Developing trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and providing constructive challenge and insight on key risks and controls. 

• Coordinating with risk and assurance teams to maximise assurance coverage and share insights across the organisation. 

• Monitoring and reporting on the status of audit actions, themes and emerging risks to support executive and Board reporting. 

• Leveraging data analytics and AI to drive innovative audit approaches to enhance audit effectiveness and efficiency. 

• Contributing to the continuous improvement of Internal Audit methodologies, processes and practices.  

About you 

You are an experienced internal audit, risk or assurance professional with a strong track record operating in complex and highly regulated environments. 

Key attributes and experience include: 

• Significant experience in Internal Audit, including experience gained within a Big 4 professional services firm and/or a large listed organisation. 

• Strong technical knowledge across Technology, Information Security, Data Management and emerging technology risks. 

• Demonstrated experience leading and delivering risk-based audits and assurance reviews aligned to recognised professional standards. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and translate insights into practical recommendations. 

• Experience leading audit teams and managing multiple concurrent priorities to successful outcomes. 

• Relevant professional qualifications such as CIA, CISA, CISSP, CA or CPA are highly regarded. 

• Experience in AI governance, data analytics, project management or regulated industries such as financial services, health or insurance will be viewed favourably.
