Key purpose of the role: 

 

As a Health Funding Manager joining Medibank, you will lead the design and evolution of hospital funding models that support better health outcomes, sustainable care, and strong commercial performance across our provider network. 

 

Utilising previous strategic experience, you will:  

 

  • Design, refine and implement hospital funding models across acute, mental health, rehabilitation and other services  

  • Partner with contracting, strategy and analytics teams to shape funding approaches and provider relationships  

  • Analyse performance, model financial impacts, and provide insights to inform business decisions   

  • Translate complex data and funding concepts into clear, practical recommendations for stakeholders  

  • Understands and articulates how hospital funding models contribute to key business outcomes including cost management, sustainability, value based care, contracting performance and member value. 

  • Lead and develop capability within the team while driving continuous improvement and innovation   

 

Key skills/strengths: 

 

  • Previous experience with health funding models is compulsory.  

  • Extensive experience in analytics, economics, insights or other quantitative analysis ideally in Hospital or insurance setting  

  • Tertiary qualification in statistics, data science, health informatics, economics/finance or similarly quantitatively oriented discipline. 

  • Experience with machine learning/forecasting and other advanced analytical analysis 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data 

  • Experience in modelling, economics, pricing or financial analysis (healthcare experience is essential 

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple, clear way 

  • Stakeholder management and collaboration across diverse teams 

  • Curiosity and a drive to improve systems, processes and outcome 

  • Ability to identify and develop commercial ideas and thinking that can substantially add value to Medibank’s businesses. 

  • Experience developing with statistical software such as SAS
