The Opportunity

This is an exceptional opportunity to join the Medibank People, Culture and Sustainability team. Lead the Performance & Rewards (P&R) team and manage the strategic direction and execution of Medibank’s remuneration, employee benefits and employee plans. This is a critical leadership role, reporting to the Senior Executive- Reward and People Services, that is responsible for influencing and executing the strategic direction and governance of broad based and executive remuneration across the Medibank Group.


Key Responsibilities include:

Broad based remuneration advice

  • Lead the P&R team and the execution of P&R related processes and BAU activities, including:
  • providing consulting advice and partnering with the business on P&R activities;
  • annual performance and remuneration reviews;
  • job evaluation and market benchmarking advice;
  • sales incentive design and analysis; and
  • employee benefits and vendor management.

Executive Remuneration

  • Preparation of People and Remuneration Committee (P&RC) papers with recommendations on key executive remuneration matters throughout the reward cycle including remuneration settings and outcomes, performance scorecards and metrics and remuneration governance.
  • Manage the preparation of the annual Remuneration Report, a key reputational and disclosure document which forms part of Medibank’s Annual Report.
  • Maintaining an understanding of the legislative and governance frameworks applicable to executive remuneration in Australia and ensuring Medibank’s ongoing compliance.
  • Prepare Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Senior Executive Group (SEG) employment contracts and letters of appointment as required.

Employee Equity

  • Manage the annual grant of employee equity (including long term incentive (LTI), short term incentive (STI) and recognition awards) to eligible participants within the Medibank senior executive group including the preparation of offer documents applicable to each grant.
  • Work closely with Company Secretary to ensure compliance with ASX listing rules in respect to the granting of employee equity to senior executives.
  • Manage the testing and vesting process in respect of LTI, STI and recognition awards in accordance with the respective plan rules.
  • Work closely with Shareworks (share plan administrator) to ensure the effective management of Medibank’s employee equity plans, including overseeing dividend payments and annual provision of employee share scheme tax statements.

An effective communicator, you bring a background that includes writing remuneration reports and Board level engagement. You thrive in an a team where you have the ability to coach, develop and mentor your direct reports and enjoy the opportunity to collaborate across a high performing People, Culture and Sustainability team. A strategic leader, you will drive continuous improvement of the governance and delivery of Performance and Rewards across Medibank.
