The purpose of this role is to lead the Commercial function to deliver actionable insights that support the business in effective and efficient management of Medibank’s relationships with hospitals and ancillary providers.

You will support the broader divisional and strategic objectives by leading in-depth market, hospital and ancillary intelligence, enabling the delivery of actionable insights. You will also be responsible for the following:

  • Proactively monitoring hospital and ancillary performance (e.g. benefit outlay payments, clinical quality) and working with the relevant Heads of and Contract Managers to devise commercial interventions to manage outlier and market trends
  • Building relationships with hospital group senior executives, industry pricing bodies and other external stakeholders as a way of gaining greater knowledge of provider dynamics and their commercial drivers
  • Working cross functionally and collaboratively to devise and implement appropriate commercial strategies to improve quality, control claims costs and benefit inflationary risk as well as develop funding model strategies, ensuring they are commercially robust and effective
  • Establishing the pricing and performance parameters required and monitoring benefit outlay performance and trends through claims risk analysis, ensuring accurate modelling
  • Lead and develop the Commercial team to ensure maintenance of the key skills, competencies and resources required to deliver corporate objectives
  • Contribute to team planning on a yearly and quarterly basis

  • Senior management experience in commercial management role
  • A well thought out and analytical approach to work and the ability to offer sustainable solutions to complex problems
  • A natural communicator, you can craft a story that influences audiences of all levels across an organisation
  • capacity to analyse current operations and customer needs, identify opportunities for innovative new or enhanced services, communicate these ideas to stakeholders, gain commitment, and then initiate and complete projects to operationalise these ideas
