You’re only human.

It’s a strange thing to say, because us humans are capable of incredible things. And at Medibank, we know our greatest potential lies in the people who work with us.

We strive to make real, fundamental change, driven by a simple purpose: to create the best health and wellbeing for all of Australia.

The Opportunity

Medibank is working toward an ambitious 2030 vision, the best health and wellbeing for Australia. We are looking for an experienced Employee Communications and Change Partner to join our team on a 13 month parental leave cover contract. This role will help shape how our people connect, understand and thrive.

In this role, you will design and deliver clear and engaging communication for your portfolio across channels such as the intranet, email, Viva Engage, podcasts and events. Your work will support employees in different environments and help them understand what matters by taking complex ideas and turning them into communication people can act on.

A key part of the role involves helping employees navigate organisational change. Strategic storytelling, practical tools for leaders and a steady approach all play a part in communicating with clarity and care.

You will also develop communication and change strategies for transformation initiatives, internal campaigns and employee lifecycle activities.

The role includes tracking communication performance and providing insights and recommendations that strengthen engagement.

You will also bring your portfolio’s news and priorities to the broader business so employees understand what matters and how it connects to our goals.

Your work will help employees feel informed, supported and confident as they move through change and important moments at Medibank.

  Day to day, you’ll:

  • Choose to work from wherever makes the most sense for your day, whether that’s home or the office, based on what you need to get done, who you’re working with, and how you work best. At Medibank, we don’t mandate office attendance days.

  • Curate and embed enterprise news into communications, creating a strong line of sight between business unit activity and the organisation’s purpose, vision, strategy, and culture

  • Advise senior leaders, including the Group Executive, with insights and recommendations to refine engagement approaches and improve communication effectiveness

  • Act as a trusted communication advisor, supporting all stakeholders, and working groups on day-to-day messaging challenges

  • Share campaign metrics and insights that enable stakeholders to understand and continuously improve the effectiveness of their communication plans

  • Adapt and pivot when required to ensure campaigns are effective and engaging for our employees

  • Taking time out to recharge – you might hit the pavement for a walking meeting with a colleague, pop out to a lunchtime gym class or take a mid morning meditation break

Our culture and ways of working

At Medibank, health and wellbeing aren’t just part of our purpose, they’re part of how we work.  For us, this means flexible work and continuous improvement to our ways of working.

You’ll be joining a supportive team that values creativity, collaboration, and shared success. We work together, learn from each other, and celebrate wins, big and small. You’ll have opportunities to stretch your skills, contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives, and build strong relationships across the business.

What do we need from you?

First and foremost, you’re passionate about employee experience and great employee communications. The idea of working across a range of projects will really excite you. You’ll be an experienced professional, with good business acumen and a breadth of experience working across corporate communications, issues management and stakeholder engagement with both senior stakeholders and employee groups.

You’ll be a real people person with a knack for building effective, positive working relationships. In regards to technical skills, experience with platforms like SharePoint, Office 365, Swoop and Staffbase will be highly regarded.
