The Opportunity

Reporting to the iMed Capability Lead the Senior IT Application Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining solutions and enablers that facilitate efficient operation of Medibank’s claims applications (iMed). The role is responsible for being a technical lead and setting the direction for the iMed Application, critically this role will develop and maintain solutions enabling highly scalable, reliable and secure digital assets. 


Where you can add value

  • Collaborate with internal technology teams and external vendors to ensure proposed solutions are developed in alignment with stated needs and requirements including, but not limited to, claim types, claims administration and processing, catalogue of SOAP based web services / Rest APIs, products, fund rules, benefit structures, and provider schedules
  • Ensure delivered solutions do not result in incidents and problems, and when they do, own and drive the resolution with a sense of urgency taking customer impacts and organisation reputation into account
  • Pro-actively develop and maintain relationships with key business stakeholders and take the lead on managing their expectations and providing excellent customer service
  • Ensure cross-systems dependencies are understood, socialised and managed
  • Achieve tickets to play and demonstrate contribution towards achieving big goals based on clearly defined metrics


About you

You have worked in an agile environment and know how to respond to business changes quickly and effectively. Your approach to work is proactive and autonomous, and you enjoy working collaboratively with your team. You have well-developed knowledge of Service Management best practices and processes, with previous experience providing application focused support. You will be comfortable leading and guiding others as well getting hands on with technology.

Ideally you will have experience with the below tech stack


  • SAP ASE (Sybase)
  • MS / Postgre SQL / T-SQL / Stored Procedures
  • Apache Tomcat
  • JavaScript, React.js
  • Python / Perl / PHP
