Application Analyst

The Opportunity 

Join our Technology & Operations team as an IT Application Analyst, supporting Medibank's iMed Claims Application within our Customer Technology & Delivery team. 

Please note that we are currently hiring for two opportunities within the team, 1x permanent position and 1x fixed-term contract, providing flexibility for candidates seeking either long-term career growth or a defined project-focused opportunity. 

In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering solutions and technical capabilities that enable the continuous development, enhancement and operation of a critical claims platform. Working in a cross-functional squad, you'll collaborate with business stakeholders, technology teams and external vendors to design, deliver and support secure, scalable and reliable application solutions.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Collaborate with business teams, technology stakeholders and external vendors to design and deliver scalable, secure and fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Conduct end-to-end impact analysis and support the delivery of system enhancements, problem resolutions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply Agile and DevOps practices to manage work, prioritise backlogs and contribute to sprint planning and delivery.
• Support release and deployment activities across planning, design, build, testing and implementation phases.
• Monitor application health, performance and stability, proactively identifying opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Manage incidents and problems with urgency, ensuring service levels are maintained and customer impact is minimised.
• Contribute to application lifecycle management, including upgrades, vulnerability management, disaster recovery and platform currency.
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation and knowledge sharing within the team while contributing to personal and team development goals. 

Must haves: 

• 5+ years' experience in a Application Analyst or similar technology-focused role.
• Strong ability to translate business requirements into functional system solution designs.
• Experience delivering business change, systems application and/or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience facilitating workshops, running meetings and engaging stakeholders across both business and technical teams.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to understand and document complex business problems and perform data analysis.
• Experience using Jira and Confluence.
• Experience working in cross-functional, collaborative environments.
• Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder communication skills.
• Demonstrated understanding of ITIL and Service Management practices.
• Experience supporting enterprise applications and delivering operational support outcomes. 

Nice to Have: 

• Experience writing and executing SQL queries for data analysis.
• Strong understanding of Agile, Lean and DevOps delivery practices.
• Experience applying Human-Centred Design principles.
• Knowledge of healthcare, health insurance or claims processing environments.
