Your new role:
We are seeking an experienced Agile Portfolio Lead to support the end-to-end planning, coordination, and delivery of digital initiatives across a complex portfolio.
Reporting to the Digital Delivery Leader, the Agile Portfolio Lead is responsible for delivering business and team outcomes aligned with the DPPE and broader delivery strategies. While not accountable for direct people management, you will lead cross-functional teams and drive a strong culture of continuous improvement and performance. The role is expected to lead delivery outcomes at a program level, helping teams navigate organisational challenges and apply agile practices effectively.
This role champions maturity in Agile principles, Lean portfolio management, and scaled delivery practice, enabling value to be delivered at speed and with stability across multiple squads and initiatives. They coach iteration managers, product owners, and delivery teams to improve agility, collaboration, and portfolio-level delivery performance, using data-driven insights. A key part of the role is uplifting the delivery culture to foster happy, healthy, high-performing teams aligned to shared outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Drive portfolio planning and execution, ensuring alignment with strategic goals across squads, product owners, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate cross-squad initiatives, managing dependencies, risks, and delivery momentum across internal teams and vendors.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including release planning, retrospectives, and quarterly big room planning to maintain alignment and continuous improvement.
- Champion data-driven delivery, using tools like Jira and Confluence to track progress, capacity, and performance metrics.
- Support shaping and discovery phases to ensure initiatives are properly scoped, resourced, and delivery ready.
- Promote agile maturity and continuous improvement, coaching teams on Agile practices and fostering high-performing, self-organising teams.
- Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams to improve processes, platform health, and technology risk management.
- Contribute to enterprise-level improvements, participating in standardisation efforts and embedding a culture of innovation and improvement.
There are some skills you must possess...
- 10+ years in agile delivery roles, including Program Manager, Scrum Master, and transformation leadership.
- 5+ years’ experience with scaled agile in enterprise environments, including major agile transformations.
- Strong background in senior project and program delivery, with proven success across both digital and non-customer-facing technologies.
- Extensive hands-on experience in Agile frameworks, with roles such as Agile Project Manager, Scrum Master, or Agile Coach.
- Skilled in delivering online and mobile products, including managing software releases and production readiness.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and analytical skills, enabling effective collaboration across business and IT teams.
- Certified Iteration Manager (or equivalent) with experience managing delivery squads and fostering agile best practices.
- Passionate advocate for agile and continuous improvement, bringing energy, quality focus, and a strong team culture.
