The role:

The API Platform Lead is a lead development role that is responsible for setting, implementing, and maintaining best practice across the agile delivery squads for API development. The role is the capability leader for all back-end development within the delivery team.


Your impact:

In this role you will act as a lead developer, establishing the technical foundation of the API platform and providing technology leadership and lead acceptance standards for the code delivered by the development team. You will also:

  • Perform POC’s, development of foundations elements and business outcomes.
  • Mentor teams of developers to adhere the best practices and standards.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop and enhance API capability for current and future needs.


Your strengths and experience:

You are a strong communicator, with the ability to translate deep technical concepts into simple and easy to understand business terms. You have experience designing, building, maintaining and supporting the API platform. You will also have:

  • Proficient with typical architectures & technologies around integration (SSO (especially SAML2.0), system synchronization (SFTP & batch workloads) as well as APIs (REST & SOAP).
  • Experience with managing the full lifecycle of API/API Management solution.
  • Hands on development in API Platform with deep implementation exposure to policies like Service Callouts, Extensions, Mediation, Security implementations using OAuth, Open ID.
  • Proven experience in Enterprise Integration/Middleware Solutions, API Management in building solutions and architectural frameworks.
  • Experience in using business SLAs and a technical architecture to calculate performance and volumetric requirements for infrastructure components.
  • Experience of integrating with different web protocols and endpoint types such as SOAP, REST, SQL\No-SQL, SAP, SalesForce, SaaS.
  • Strong experience with at least five of the following: Java Spring Framework, AWS API Platform, Apache Camel, NodeJS, API Specifications (Swagger\OpenAPI, RAML), API Managers (AWS, MuleSoft, TIBCO, WSO2), Message Broker (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ), Docker, Container Orchestrators (Kubernetes, OpenShift), Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Compute), Functional Programming frameworks (Lambda, ServerLess, Scala).
  • Experience with the automation of software delivery processes, i.e. CI\CD, IaC, Configuration Management using technologies like Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker
  • AWS experience with using a broad range of AWS technologies (e.g. EC2, RDS, ELB, S3, VPC, Glacier, IAM, CloudWatch, KMS
