The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced API Integration Engineer to play a key role in designing, developing and supporting secure, scalable and reliable integrations across the iMed platform and a range of enterprise and partner systems.

As a senior hands-on engineer, you'll work at the intersection of application development, integration architecture and platform engineering, delivering API and integration solutions that enable seamless data exchange, process automation and claims transformation initiatives. You'll collaborate closely with architects, platform teams, business stakeholders and engineering squads to create high-quality, reusable and supportable integration capabilities.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex integration challenges, influencing engineering standards, mentoring team members, and helping shape the future API landscape within a modern cloud-based environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop and maintain API-based integrations across enterprise applications, cloud services and external partner platforms.
Build reusable integration services, RESTful APIs and event-driven solutions that support scalable and reliable business outcomes.
Collaborate with architects, analysts and product teams to define integration requirements and contribute to solution design.
Champion engineering excellence through API standards, code quality, automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Implement and support API security, governance and lifecycle management practices, including authentication, authorisation and monitoring.
Support automated testing, CI/CD practices and operational excellence across integration services.
Monitor, maintain and optimise integration platforms, providing ongoing support, documentation and performance improvements.

Must haves:

Extensive experience designing and developing APIs and enterprise integration solutions.
Strong experience with REST APIs, SOAP Web Services and OpenAPI/Swagger.
Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Apache Camel, APIs and Microservices architectures.
Strong development capability in Java, along with experience in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Node.js and scripting.
Experience working with messaging technologies such as Kafka and event-driven architecture patterns.
Experience with AWS cloud technologies, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Experience with tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Splunk, JIRA and automated testing frameworks.
Strong understanding of API security, governance and integration best practices.
Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
Proven stakeholder management, collaboration and communication skills.
Experience working in cloud-native environments and delivering scalable integration solutions.
