The essentials:
- Part time, fixed term opportunity to 30th November 2025.
- Open to General Practitioners or recently trained hospital residents/registrars.
- Option to work from the Amplar Home Health office in Adelaide, or completely virtually from any Australian location.
- Sessions are available on weekdays between 9-6 and Sat/Sun mornings. To ensure quality and consistency, doctors will need to commit to at least 2 sessions per week.
- We are flexible in regards to the weekly hours and shifts available (please be sure to note your preferred availability in your application)
Amplar Home Health is a leading provider in home health care services including services for acute and subacute episodes of care. Hospital in the home (HITH) involves the care of patients who would otherwise require in hospital care, typically relating to wound care, treatment of infections, and management of exacerbations of chronic disease. Rehabilitation in the home (RITH) involves the care of patients who would otherwise receive their rehabilitation in an inpatient rehab unit. These patients are typically post-surgical (joint replacement) or require a period of reconditioning following an acute medical event.
As part of our commitment to advancing patient care, we are seeking dedicated medical practitioners to play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of medical management for our patients. The Medical Officer will be responsible for providing expert medical advice and support to patients, Amplar Health teams and health practitioners, both employed and contracted, involved in the management of acute and subacute care in the home
Day to day, the role will see you:
- Participate in huddles with the case coordination team to review incoming referrals, discuss clinical escalations, identify patients requiring medical review, and support discharge planning.
- Conduct virtual consultations with patients as needed.
- Review and approve care plans for high-risk patients based on agreed criteria.
- Manage medications, including initial charting, updates, and limited prescribing during the episode of care.
- Request pathology and radiology where required, review results, and collaborate with treating specialists.
- Liaise with treating specialists and regular GPs for escalations, concerns, and discharge planning.
- Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines, review clinical outcomes at a cohort level, and provide input into models of care.
Qualifications required are as follows:
- General Practitioners or recently trained hospital residents/registrars.
- Preferably PGY4+ with BPT, FRACGP or FACRRM.
- Full unconditional registration with AHPRA.
