Medibank provides telephone triage services for our members and on behalf of our clients across Australia. NURSE-ON-CALL is one of the programs we run and this service gives all Victorians the peace of mind of knowing that professional health advice is only a phone call away – day or night. We are looking for Registered Nurses (with shift work experience) to join our Nurse Triage program assisting people who call for clinical advice and support. You will be able to enjoy working late evening/overnight shifts from the comfort of your own home and have guided provision by a clinical lead.
On a day to day basis you will manage callers' health enquiries, triage presenting symptoms, provide referrals, and clinical advice ranging from self-care to emergency response on a wide variety of health issues. This role will involve you confidently operating and navigating through a clinical triage system using your clear communication skills to help people through challenging situations over the phone.
- Full technology suite provided (including computer and phone kit)
- Full time and part time positions are available – from 19 hours to 37.5 hours per week
- One weekend shift may be a requirement of the role
- Position commences on the 2nd May 2017
These positions allow you to work from home on a fixed fortnightly roster alleviating any need for travel to work.
To be able to confidently work from home you will be required to complete our induction training program, this training is conductd virtually from the comfort of your home and will run for the first four days upon commencement in the role. To provide further support, you will then complete precepting shifts at home before starting your triage shifts.
You will be an experienced Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years full time clinical nursing experience with recent Acute or Primary Health Care experience. You will also have a current practicing certificate without restrictions from AHPRA.
You will need to be able to demonstrate: superior nursing assessment skills including excellent critical thinking capability, an intermediate level of computer skills and strong decision making and problem solving skills will all be key to your success!
To be eligible to work from home you will need a landline and suitable internet connection. The internet must be an ADSL or similar to that (ADSL + 2, SDSL, Cable, Naked ADSL (only if you have a PSTN line for voice) or NBN connection (It is acceptable for you to have a separate voice (UNV port voice) and data (UND port data) connection. Please check with your current provider to confirm you meet the requirement prior to the interview stage.
